I believe region b is the toughest from head to toe just sad to see what has come about since the 6a system went into place.
Districts and regionals used to be a giant deal back in the day because line ups were full and it was always fun as a fan to watch the finals match ups which have sadly turned into a dual meet between Strasburg and take your pick of regions b schools to oppose.
I like to see what Strasburg is doing and applaud coach Reynolds’s and his staff and the young feeder program that produced the team today for most part.
Simply saying I miss the days of the hard nose 16 man brackets from region b that instead of watching most teams not be able to fill a whole line up.

Y'all sleeping on some Richland's kids. They did pretty good at the duals. Might wanna go check out some of those head to head matchups. Phillips is one kid to look out for. BTW, In response to the 4 kids from D in HWT when only 3 qualify just shows how deep D is in that weight class. Another reason we need to see 16 man brackets at state without byes. Doesn't make sense and never will to me. If the reasoning is not enough kids, they're wrong. If they think they are right, then cut State to 3 classes 1A-3A. Things were a little different today in the district tournament on a level playing field

Not sure you can call 6-7 straight top 5-10 finishes in the dumps but to each their own on that one

I did see Strasburg pretty much had their way in the 5 duals they had not sure if they lost more than 6 matches combined. Colby Shaw took down Tyler Forbes 10-4 I believe in a match that wasn’t even close. Both look like they might need to get the conditioning up for the post season. Strasburg looked solid in 13/14 the heavyweight seems to struggle but I believe is back after taking many years off Central—Forbes and Lopez weren’t really challenged except for the Shaw match with Forbes Clarke—Jacobson is a man on a mission they do have other kids that could sneak into state placement Page, Mountain View, and Madison—could have a few kids up and down the weights that could advance like sacra from Madison All in all next week at riverheads for regionals I don’t really see much changing other than adding some riverheads kids to advance to states Sadly wrestling in the bull run and region b isn’t much outside of the normal power school that do well year in and out with exception of Clarke which is down in numbers. I think the 6a system is hurting Virginia as a whole as 1 and 2a school with exception of a handful struggle to fill 10 weights Forbes also lost his match with Nick Moore from Page county

Bull Run District Recap
No 106 in the region will do much at the state tournament in my opinion, the Strasburg kid who went 5-0 only weights 90 lbs
Heard there was a weight scare for Conner Miller at 113 but he made it and took care of his easy day
Evan Pack bumped up to 126 and Kolton Vincent didn’t wrestle so Peyton Dean had quite the easy day
Pack bumping up didn’t pay off though as he lost 7-2 to little Martinez but I think Pack can close that gap next week
Shanholtz and Landon Roper from CC looked good at 132 but look a step or two behind Jake Yowell who is waiting for them next week
Heath Burks is in a class of his own at 138
Lucas Martinez took care of business at 144 but Joshua James Lamb from Madison is gonna make some noise at the state tournament
David Burks is a class of his own as well, the surprise here was Keith Gerhard from Madison dropped down, I assume for an easier weight class as a hole
Jacobson took a loss today on an illegal slam call but he is just a man on a mission and I don’t expect him to take anything less than first in Salem
Gotta give Donovan Burks kiddos, kid went 5-0 with a broken hand. Matches may have been closer than they should but he got the job done and he will only get better with time to get ready for Salem
175 was the most intriguing weight class with 5 guys who could all go to Salem and win a match or two. A weight to keep an eye on next week
190 had the marquee matchup of the day and it lacked the fireworks. Forbes looked completely out of shape, Shaw had no offense. Shaw just worked Forbes to make mistakes and capitalized. Then Forbes proceeded to look like a zombie against a Page kid he has pinned twice this season
Hutson Conrad is no joke. Kid will win 215, won’t break a sweat and will not get out of the first period. One of the best pound for pound kids in 2A. I’d like to see him and miller go at it. Sacra from Madison will make some noise in Salem
285 was a joke, Lopez didn’t break a sweat but he’s gotta get some fire in him to repeat, looked sloppy all day
Postseason wrestling is here, Poquoson qualified all 12 guys. Will it be enough for them to be in the hunt for a trophy in Salem?
Gotta love this time of year

I know where you grew up and went to school as I was a local Strasburg athlete myself back in the day. I know where Strasburg came from and has been and are currently at. I’ve watched them go through coaching changes over the years from bowley to smith to the one time coach from Pennsylvania I think Baxter. Saying they were in the dumps is a bad take. The elite by far changed the course and put them at the level they are in now but think back and look through the halls of that school and wrestling has added more trophies than every other sport combined almost.
