From what I’m hearing, Class 1 is going back to super regional for state qualifiers. This way, 6 from each side should avoid forfeits advancing to the state tournament.
I’ve heard these other options are also in the works. Parry McCleur and Bath Co are trying to move to region b for wrestling and Riverheads is moving the school district lines to accommodate a class 1 enrollment and send the overflow to Buffalo Gap. If this all occurs, the issues of competition at state, forfeits advancing and qualifying by weigh in will be eliminated.
I think everyone got ahead of the problem this year and we’re able to get a quick solution! People don’t say this enough, but good job VHSL!

Would make sense for Bath and PM be in a region with Buffalo Gap since within an hour of each other. Haven’t heard anything about any overflow of students coming from Riverheads to Buffalo Gap. Where did that come from? Also, I must be out of the loop on how this works, but how can Riverheads already be in talks to be moving back down to 1A after just 1 year in 2A? What changed in their numbers from the last couple years to now for it to even be a conversation? If they were projected to be above the line 2 years ago to move up, and now somehow are not, why did they even go up in the first place? They move up and lose their football state championship and now talks to move them back down? Something doesn’t add up.

Nothing nefarious about it. Riverheads was just a few students over in the last adm report and that was the reason for the school petitioning to stay down before reclassification. Doesn't matter to me either way but the lines arent being redrawn to accommodate a move down. The truth is they should have never been sent up in classification but instead the VH%L decided to cower to Grayson County who was quite a bit over the established line. That worked out well for the super team that was supposed to dominate football.
