I heard some of the men at SR are so old, they are ineligible for their senior year. Seems silly. let the men wrestle. Is allowing 20 year old men to wrestle 14 year old boys acceptable to you? I say let them wrestle other similar aged men like at a prep school. Holding kids over 2 times for high school sports goes against any good faith standards to assure fairness in my opinion. And more than 1 from same team makes a person wonder what other rules have been bent. Not one kid at SR will be 20 and all will be eligible. Cry me a river. Your team lost so now you want to talk about rules being bent. Hold backs happen all over in wrestling. It’s not something new. You want to win work harder.

There are ZERO high school wrestlers in Virginia that are over 19 years old. The VISAA and the National Preps both have the exact same age limit rule as the VHSL - an athlete can't be 19 years old before August 1 of the season in question. So even the Post-grads at schools like Blair and Wyoming Seminary are bound to that same age limit rule. Stop throwing out phrases like "19 years or older" because there is no high school athletics association in the country that allows 20-year-old athletes to compete. The only rule that the VHSL imposes that is not necessarily adhered to in private schools is the 8-semester rule. If the school administration allows it, private schools CAN allow athletes to compete for a 9th and 10th semester, IF they still meet the age standard.

There is a form for a waiver on the VHSL web site. With that said there are a few kids on the SR team born in 2005. The next state tournament is in 2025. Do the math.

The only way a kid would be 20 at state would be if they are born in Jan or Feb. You can try and twist the facts if you want. Sounds to me like one of two things going on here. Either your team lost or your kid lost to SR. Like I said before work harder.

"You want to win work harder" I agree but probably not the best way to defend holding a kid back. Work harder, orr hold them back a year.

My team and wrestler is in 2A and we didn't wrestle SR. Also, waivers are real, but usually not given because a team wants to win a 3rd team title in a row or another individual state championship. I have a new saying work longer as in years.

The rules are not being broken. The parents are doing what they think is best for their kid. This debate is SO old. It is what it is...deal with it. Are the parents of true freshmen in college whining because they have to wrestle 25 year olds who are wrestling for a 6th year? No...they are not, because the 25 year old wrestlers are following the NCAA rules. SR and BCP have good programs...they are abiding by the rules of the VHSL or VISAA. Please get over it and move on.

Bo's not breaking any rules! Who cares? People have different priorities. Hopefully graduating at 17 was right for you...good for you. Bo is gonna go to college for free and could one day achieve his goal of being a world champion wrestler...good for him. What does it matter?
Or, are you upset because you got your butt kicked on the mat by some kid older than you in high school?
Good night!! Get over it!!

They are going to keep winning and working. You want to claim it’s because some kids got held back is why they win. How about bring your wrestler to the room and they will see. They work hard year round and travel to all the national tournaments to wrestle the best kids. They have goals a lot bigger than state titles. Try to think bigger and not smaller.

I gave my opinion with a few posts. So that's obsessed I guess. I didn't even start the topic. It sure seems like some people don't care if programs find ways to bend rules as long as they work hard and are good. I don't get it myself. Never will. Not obsession, just refuse to bow to people/programs like that.
