Mi Amigos of VA WRESTLING!!!
I apologize for my slacking the last week...I said a few weeks ago that I started a new job and its been KICKIN MY BUTT!!! On top of that I've got baby #2 coming any second now...HOLY SMOKES!
S/O to my wife who is 40+ weeks preggo...I can imagine she feels like a wrestler in the thick of season whos been cutting weight for 10+ weeks (Just kidding I promise...she def feels way worse)
BUT ENOUGH ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE BACK TO THE PROGRAM YOURE PAYING FOR!!!
I'll start w week 9...
STC Beat New Kent 39-30 in which three results stand out to me:
113: Rankin over Carter 7-0
138: Noah Cuis over Haney 4-2
144: Turley over Bentley 10-4
Shift to the Coach K event at Orange...A lot to unpack here
1. Independence is the strong front-runner for the 5A state Championship
2. I have been brought back to earth. I think Woodgrove is probably going to win 4a...I thought orange was going to win in November...I think the strength of Woodgrove's region is the thing that makes it most interesting
3. Aidan Shufelt is legit. I think the world of Justin Jones and seeing Shufelt take that one kinda shocked me(I dont know much about this kid sooo...take that for what its worth).
Week 10....
OK...I know the VHSL is a disaster as it is...BUT WHY!!! JUST WHY!!! Are half the regions one weekend and the other half is this weekend. I can't for the life of me understand this. The only thing I could possibly guess is the number of officials...but not having uniformity is just silly.
I know St Chris beat Benedictine...But I can't go into too much detail because I cant find results
MAKE ME ANGRY!!! WHY IT NOT ON INTERNET!
Sorry...spazzed out there for a sec...first world problems...
These are two of the top VISAA teams...this should be easily accessible.
The Big Shake up that I didnt expect...Just a few weeks after Great Bridge beat Cox in a dual...Cox wins the 5A region by knocking off Great Bridge.
And with that...Congratulations! Dalton Head has joined the chat in my thread for COACH OF THE YEAR nominee!
Heres the thing though...Who will be most prepared in two weeks? My answer: Independence
This weekend starts to get a little more spicy. My favorite region this weekend is 6A region A.
Grassfield and Cosby will go blow for blow...I also think there's a super exciting matchup with Jerry Simon and Hayato Otero. This could be a state final and the loser...well they could get a nice date with Nick Sanders in the second round of the state tournament should the brackets fall in an unfavorable way for one of them...(25% chance)
Talk to me...what are some of your favorite regional events and who are some of your favorite matchups we could see at the regional tournaments?
