Did Abingdon get reclassified to 2A mid season? Why else would they even be in a 2A District Tournament? I'm confused.

I saw Staunton River in a district that appeared to be 3-5a schools. New Kent and Poquoson are same district. Skyline and Sherando are same district. Just to name good 3a schools I follow who are in the situation.

Seems like a bad situation. Why risk it on matches that don't matter? or do they?

There is no such thing as a 2A District Tournament. A District Tournament is for all teams in the District.

It'll help a lot. The "seeders" will have more recent results to work with, since a lot of matches were CCD last month due to the wx.

Has no bearing on 3D seeding, but it does change 2D regional seedings and possible state brackets, and take away team points from those teams in the district. Creates pairings that may/ may not have happened. Recommend district duals, let them stay for that but not the district tournament. Looking at bracket, 132 didn't wrestle his normal 126, but will wrestle 126 at 3D region?

Why does River Ridge not have a district tourney?

Why does River Ridge not have a district tourney? Some districts dont see a point. The tournament, while gaining wrestling experience, means little to nothing

Create pairings that may not happen? ? Why duals? That doesn't mean anything. ... None of that makes sense to me. ... 132 didn't wrestle his normal 126, but will wrestle 126 at 3D region? "Normal"?? If he's 26 @ District, then, yeah, he's 26 the rest of the way.

Seems like a no brainer there to get an extra event in. Does not count against the 5 tournament rule, but a lot of district tournaments lose money, it's why ours did away with it. Money talks, and to our district it said no more district tournament (and that goes for most sports except track and cross country, not just wrestling)

Too many kids/parents/coaches bracket watch these forums and get in their own heads. Try to find the easiest path to win. Insane. So this kid is dodging who? someone at district or region/state or all 3? hummm

I see little benefit in district. You go against the same people you already wrestled, sometimes multiple times, during season. Majority of the matches are not competitive. The kids have to make weight, and you lose a day of practice. And ultimately district means little to nothing.

VHSL should do away with Districts and allow another in season Tournament of team's choosing.
