No Track? WTH. Who runs paper brackets in 2024? VHSL needs to ban this from ever happening again. They need to require all teams enter their results (even duals) in track. NC has to, believe it or not, IT CAN BE DONE.
If I ran a tournament I wouldn't accept any records that weren't recorded in Track. Having a coach say "don't ya believe me? I swear my kid is 32-1" then goes 0-2 at your tournament. Comon' East Coast, ya'll better than this!

The schedule disparity can be so large from school A to school B sometimes that two even wrestlers can be off 10-15 wins. It rewards wrestling a lesser schedule all year.

I believe some schools are padding records. I look at Track and a team will wrestle 10 matches in tournaments, but show 35 to 45 matches on Track Wrestling. We know that in the western part of state tournaments and duals were canceled this year. I would say very few schools would have that many matches with the current rules.

Saw some good Wrestling at the 2A State tournament!
106 Harrell looked tough. Thought finals would be a tech or oin though. Top 3 at States
113 Keesee was beating Padgett for 2 1/2 periods. One mistake. Top 3 at States
120 Withrow looked tough. Finalist
126 Goodson is a hammer. Finalist and possibly a 4 timer
132 Webb for a freshman looked very good. Top 5 at States
138 Latta looked quick and strong!! Finalist
144 Booth looked very tough!! Finalist
150 Leonard much improved. Great on his feet. Top 3 at States
157 Reynolds a freshman!! Prob a year away from placing but could see 6th!
165 Southampton kid was solid!! Stowers from Poq solid. Be tough for both to place
175 Didn’t see much
190 Agnese from Poq wrestled smart. Prob a year away from placing
215 Didn’t see much
285 Love the Bruton kid. King William kid tough also!! Both could place!

I don't normally rebuttal when it comes to my wrestlers, but each wrestler at 113 made "one mistake".
Yes, Keese was winning for 2 1/2 periods but the score was only 3-1 heading into the third and last I checked, matches were 6 minutes, not 5 1/2. If the score was 14-2 and Padgett hit the throw and pinned him? Sure dismiss what he did, but not in a 2 point match.
Each wrestler scored 1 take-down, Keese early, Padgett late. Each wrestler scored 1 escape within those 6 minutes. Just happened that Padgett scored a TD2B and rode him out for the last 40 seconds of the match.
Keese is a good wrestler and his height (what is he 6 foot?) will pose issues for a lot of wrestlers at states. I don't disagree with the possibility of a top-3 finish, but to dismiss Padgett because the other wrestler was "winning most of the match"? Sorry can't stay silent on that one.

Not disagreeing with you at all. Great points made. With Padgett’s record I was just surprised it was that close with a minute left. I know both schools wrestle totally different schedules!
I see them hitting for Round 2 somewhere at States
Was a great match

The schedule difference is huge. Padgett is the only wrestler on the roster who has wrestled more than 2 years, everyone else is in year 2 or 1. Poquoson has a roster filled with kids who have been wrestling a lot longer affording them a harder schedule. Poq coaches knew what they were getting with Padgett and we knew what we were getting with keese. Only way they meet up is in consi or finals, can't match up in winners bracket till the 1/2 Not disagreeing with you at all. Great points made. I believe Cash is a heavy favorite at 113, but there are at least 6 good kids that could fill the placement spots. I honestly don't know who to pick as they all are good wrestlers and most are known hard workers. I think 113 will be an enjoyable weight at states.

Agree!
I thought it was one of the top weight classes last year also with Goodson, Dean, Hall and Forbes
