I have a 12U (Born 2012-2013) walking around at ~54 lbs. The lowest weight class for 12U is 58lbs (USA weights). We’ve traveled a lot this year and found that there are a lot of 10-11 year olds that weigh 52-54lbs. I’m wondering if there are any other coaches/parents with some 12U wrestlers that are too small for 58lbs. And, are you interested in trying to get a lower weight class added for state?

Your kid is at the far end of the spectrum. I highly doubt you are seeing full brackets at this weight class. If your kid is within 4-5 lbs of the weight, you're probably OK, doubt they will go lower for a less than 60lb preteen. And I doubt "many" parents are making their kid cut weight to make it at that age. Although I've seen crazy dads.
I get it, the lower the weight each pound add more percentage of weight, but hopefully he'll hit that growth spurt soon.
