Evidently it is now being proposed and voted on by the VHSL. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong. If approved, starting the 2022-23 school year, each individual could only have 50 total matches (I'm guessing regular season???). Additionally, while teams could still have 12 contests, only 5 of which could now be tournaments. I dislike that it is more restrictive, since many teams hold tournaments now in order to bring some revenue in.
Thoughts?

They are going to encourage more Quads

Hopefully it pushes Quads on weekends because attending a quad is hard to do, as a spectator, during the weekday. Nonetheless, VHSL should make duals matter with District dual titles (Round Robin). Not many, if any, do so. Also, postseason Regional and State Dual titles. But if not that, at the very least District Dual titles.

Their ultimate goal IS to push for more Quads, whether its weekends or weeknights I guess is up to the schools Unfortunately, the majority of districts have teams from multiple classifications. We are in a small district with 2 teams from 1a and 2 teams from 2a (one of the teams does not have a wrestling team). There's really no way to make our district relevant to post-season. I know other districts are similar in some have teams from 1a, 2a, and 3a in them. No incentive to run a dual tournament on top of an individual tournament (btw individual tournaments in some cases are cheaper to run than a dual as you pay per match instead of per dual)

That is a truly fair point. I was moreso thinking that the district would be determine through several tris and quads. The team with the best Win-Loss record against their district opponents would be crowned champs. I, However, knew that some districts had 3-4 teams and they were all different classifications. I did not know that there is a district with just 2 teams. The District title would be stand alone, it would not be connected to a postseason. As you said, it would not work due to different classifications. A true post season dual would only be specific classification region and states. Nevertheless, I see what you are saying. I am not against Quads at all. I enjoy them. I am all for anything positive that will grow the sport of wrestling in VA.

So our little district of 3 teams does have a district champ trophy lol But it's all connected into a larger competition among our 4 school district. Yea a dual state tournament would be awesome!
