Stuarts Draft High School is pleased to announce that from May 31 to June 3, 2023, we will host 4 days of wrestling with special guest clinicians coaching many of the sessions.
All Camps will take place in the Stuarts Draft High School Fieldhouse or the Old Gym.
Any wrestler registered by May 20 will receive a camp t-shirt.
More information will be sent once you register.
Camp Option 1: Youth Introduction Camp Cost $25
Camp will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday May 31, Thursday June 1, & Friday June 2. No prior wrestling experience is required. These sessions are intended to introduce elementary age students to the sport of wrestling. The camp is open to EVERYONE grades K - 5 or ages 5 - 11. Please bring your own water bottle. Wrestling shoes are not required.
Camp Clinician:
Abe Mikell: Coach Mikell has been coaching wrestling at SDHS since 2006. He became the head coach in 2011. Since he began coaching at SDHS, we have had 2 All Americans, 8 state finalists, a 3x state champion, & numerous state place winners. Coach Mikell is a USA Wrestling Copper & Bronze certified coach.

Camp Option 2: Middle School and High School Camp Cost $75
From Wednesday May 31 to Friday June 2 between 9am and 5pm, SDHS will host a traditional wrestling camp with 3 sessions each day. The purpose of this camp is to improve wrestlers' technique in all three phases of folkstyle wrestling. Areas of emphasis will include getting out and/or reversing from the bottom position and transitioning from takedowns to turns from the neutral position. This camp is open to all middle and high school aged wrestlers. Prior experience and wrestling shoes are recommended, but not required. Bring your own lunch, snacks, & drinks.

Ty Schoffstall: Coach Schoffstall has experience wrestling and coaching at the NCAA division I level. He wrestled at Edinboro University from 2013 - 2018. A 2x NCAA qualifier, Coach Schoffstall was an Eastern Wrestling League champion his junior year. From 2018 - 2022, he served as a volunteer assistant coach with the VMI Keydets in Lexington, VA.
Kayla Zickler: Coach Zickler also has experience both coaching and wrestling at the college level. Coach Zickler was a 3x NWCA All American at King College. She also won gold in the 2012 Pan American Games at the 51 kg weight class. Since December of 2020, Coach Zickler has served as the assistant men's and women's coach at Emory and Henry College in Emory, VA.

Camp Option 3: Girls' Wrestling Clinic This Camp is FREE
From 9am to 3pm on Saturday June 3 we will host 2 two hour sessions for female wrestlers only. The purpose of this camp is to introduce girls to both folkstyle and freestyle wrestling. Freestyle wrestling is the primary form of women's wrestling at the collegiate, national, & international levels. Areas of emphasis will be the basics of neutral wrestling for folkstyle and freestyle and the differences between the two styles of wrestling. This camp is open to all middle and high school aged girls regardless of wrestling experience. Bring your own lunch, snacks, & drinks.
