Lawrence of Great Bridge defeated Kucharsck 10-6 at the Colin Baker Tournamenat 175 # Although this is true, Kucharczk proceeded to defeat Lawrence 10-8 at Beast of the East. Mind you, is more recent than the Colon Baker Tournament. not only did he beat Noah Lawrence at Beast he beat the #1 seed Luke Vanadia to place 5th. Vanadia is ranked #18 in the country at 182.

Looks like Elijah Smoot from Eastern View has been at 132 and looks like that is where he is staying. 4A rankings show Luke Wirth at #2 in 4A and it appears that he is undefeated for the season?

3A, great work pulling this together. I'm sure there will be plenty of fireworks over the next few weeks that could change things, but this looks like a good representation to me. The only one I might question is Walker Turley at 132; He beat #4 Yuta Otero 3-2 at the Myhouse Trojan Wars in December and went 1-1 with Trace Ragland (11-5L in Dec with a 5-2W in Jan). Seems like maybe he's a little low at #8 IMHO. Agree. I saw the loss to Ragland, but not the win. That makes a big difference!

Lawrence beat Kucharsck 10-6, Kucharsck beat Lawrence 10-8.;Too bad there isn't an all state tournament in VA like there is in all of the New England States. That's so they can have the New England Championships. You've got two goid guys in the same state that won't wrestle again for their high school teams. C'mon VHSL, 6 public school divisions, really?!

Curious where 2A 106 Xaiden Wynn from James river falls in your rankings Seems like 2A gets no love, guaranteed the Strasburg team is top 5 team if all healthy We're pretty responsive. If you feel a certain way and have points of emphasis we're happy to say we're wrong, it will be changed, or why we went in another direction. 2A has come a long way in just a matter of 12 months! But, I do feel we're being very fair with them.

Where are the Burks from Strasburg and Ethan Asher ? I'd think they are getting overlooked.... I’d say Asher is on the outside looking in as he lost to the 9th and 10 th ranked wrestlers at 138. I believe David Burks is ranked. Strasburg is definitely a top 10-15 dual team, but top 5 would be a stretch.

Cholakis of Rock Ridge should be ranked much higher. Win over desanto of Heritage 7-3. He has only been taken down 2 times this year

David burks could definitely be higher, pretty sure he pinned Solomon in the first period during a dual this season.

David burks could definitely be higher, pretty sure he pinned Solomon in the first period during a dual this season. Which is what got him into the rankings. Body of work and scores against mutual opponents is what kept Salomon above Burks in these rankings. This was also decided by our committee member who isn't involved with either 2a or 3a, to prevent any kind of bias on a tough call between two kids who are really liked by our members.

Curious to know what "body of work" criteria keeps Hood and Ashley at 144 in their spots. Ashley has lost last two H-2-H's to Lewis and Main and has not beat any ranked opponents at 144 this season. To my knowledge Hood has not beat any ranked opponents at 144 this season and was pinned by Jordan in :38. Hopefully VAWA is using VHSL "in-season" body of work and are not giving "out-of season" tournaments criteria more credence as this is really not a fair comparison.

Hopefully VAWA is using VHSL "in-season" body of work and are not giving "out-of season" tournaments criteria more credence as this is really not a fair comparison. The only off season tournament we really considered was the Super 32 qualifier events- as they were both loaded with ranked kids from the previous seasons and tough freshmen. It was sort of a starting point to kick off the season to tell us who was where and how they looked against other competitive kids. This is where Ashley got his high rank- along with finishing runner up in a competitive state tournament the previous seasons. Main started ahead of him but was lowered slightly after losing to Billy Tyler at beast. I'll be the first to admit- the kid who is ranked higher is not the kid I would pick to win that match, but I'm not sure how to justify it based on results I see from September moving forward. With those two I've always just thought they'll be able to sort it out here in a few weeks, as these rankings are far from final. As far as Hood goes- he finished #1 last year and if I remember correctly beat both Jordon and Roberts that season. While his results this year lack head to head wins over ranked competition, the results aren't bad and they also lack head to head losses. Jordon is clearly on another level this year, but it would be silly to think Jordon wins by pin in :38 every time (and it can happen to anyone just based on how he wrestles). I agree that offseason results can be unfair.. to me this is because how long ago the results generally happened. I could also argue in season results are unfair because some kids are placed in locations where their schools are not bringing them to competitive tournaments despite having that one really good kid or two. I don't know, slippery slope. In the end, yeah.. I think Carson could be as high as the 2nd best kid in this weight, just the margin of error is super thin.
