106lbs: Brendan Sholders (Westfields) has placed the last 2 weekends 4th @ NOVA Classic and 3rd at Brentsville's Greg Stanley Memorial. 126lbs: Zehring was making progression weight down to 126lbs from 132lbs. Ben Weader is a stud and a serious contender for States. His match with Pollard in NOVA Classic finals really came down to penalty points. 132lbs: Hernadez (Hayfield) beat Rerras (Westfields) at NOVA Classic this weekend. 160lbs: Brian Gordon wrestled 170 at NOVA Classic (placed 3rd). Not sure if he's progressing down to 160 or not. Coughlin will be tough to beat at 160lbs. He only placed 3rd at NOVA Classic because the refs said he did an illegal mat return--in my eyes, but i'm not certain the Mat Return rule wording but I thought it sounded worse than it looked IMHO. Coughlin is definitely wrestling well.

Just wanted to clear up a couple of comments. We were at the NOVA event and watched most of these matches. Im not sure how anyone can comment on a call that they didn't even see for themself. Sean Coughlin looked good and was clearly going to win his match, however a mat return with a trapped arm is illegal. Not saying it was intentional. The match with Weader and Pollard did not come down to penalty points. The score was 7-1. After speaking with Pollard, he said that he only reason he cut Weader when they got to their feet in the 3rd, was to avoid injury. Weader had just thrown an elbow back at Pollard then swung again forward after he missing the first attempt, that is when Pollard decided to cut him. The match should have been stopped early on. After numerous eye gouge attempts by Weader, a shove out of bounds, pushing Pollard off of his back after the ref stopped the match, an attempt to start a fight, then throwing at punch towards the end of the match. Weader wasn't even hit on a penalty point for the worst of his actions. Pollard was only given injury time for the we worst eye poke that stopped the match.
