I'm slowly getting worse about my weekly review... If theres any kids on this thread...Don't get a real job. Its not fun. I've been locked in a cube and doing adult stuff...and its not all its hyped up to be. I'd much rather be locked in a room w padded walls. BUT Back to my regularly scheduled program...
The Big DAWG of the Weekend Was the Jamie Kelly Memorial At Ocean Lakes (RIP TO A LEGEND)... Great Bridge continues to improve week over week. Steve Martin does better than anyone at making his athletes progress as we get closer to February. But I'm not telling ya nothin ya dont know! Poqouson continues to progress. They've got a solid nucleus of some young pups...Personally, I'm a big Fan of Jared Goodson. I think hes going to be REALLY good by time his senior year comes around.
A random note that kinda shocked me...Cox beat Grassfield in a dual last week. I was (and still am) a big fan of the way Grassfield competes. Cox definitely is a good dual team...I'm curious to see how they compete in the state tournament. Can they challenge the likes of GB, Indy, First Colonial? I'll say...I don't think they can. But good luck!
Saint Chris and New Kent Dual tomorrow...I would've been much more intrigued about this dual a month ago. I'm excited for Noah Rankin vs Tristan Carter. Rematch of FS state finals where Rankin took the win.
I remember back in my day Big Blue was a huge event...unfortunately that event has really fallen off with the dwindling of the Cburg program...
Not too much going on as we approach the end of January and into February...What are you looking forward to most these next few weeks?

I'm not arguing the overall quality of teams in the event has dropped off recently, but when they drop from 23 to 9 overnight due to weather in the western half of the state its no one's fault. I was up there on friday night, and I was shocked they even got anything in, there was standing snow falling when friday night ended. Even getting that in out here was a miracle.

Great Bridge is the best team in the state. Prove me wrong! Keke in the boys did work for Coach Martin and we’re going for number 23!

Cox V GB @ GB 1/26 @ 7PM.... will be interesting. Folks have been underestimating Cox all year, but it looks like they finally have a complete and healthy lineup finally.

Fluffy, We match up well against your SR boys. Watch our 5a regionals - that’s the “real” states. We cleaned up at the Ocean Lakes tourney this past weekend against some hitters. Come to the match tomorrow against Cox. It will be a walk in the park.

They have a couple weaker weights that would let you all score some points but I don’t see any of GB kids wining vs any of the main kids at SR.

Because it’s the worst kept secret that if Great Bridge is wrestling anywhere around the Beach area they’re going to bracket them to get the highest possible placement. I saw it myself at I64 a couple of years ago.

Haven’t seen GB compete since Martin has come back, but have seen them in the summer at wrestling camps. Bring a full team and extras and the extras wrestlers go to their b team. A starter on their a team gets hurt and they bring the b team guy back and plug him into the a team lineup. No other team at camp allowed to do it but they get away with it. Wasn’t mad to see them lose to Combat Athletics from NC in the finals this summer at Roanoke.

Oh yeah, forgot all about how much overweight they all were! 10 pounds might even being putting it nice. Can’t forget about how much they complained when they lost either. Favorite part from camp this year is when Chase Miller from Glenvar beat one of the GB kids is OT and flexed at Martin.
