So we are near a month away from the start of the 2023-2024 school year. I'm interested in getting a list together of all notable incoming freshmen and where they will be attending school this year. I have a few names down but am still unsure of what schools they will be attending and wrestling for. I thought this would be a task the Va wrestling community may be able to help out with. This is mainly for preseason ranking. So please list any notable wrestlers name and school below

Heard there's another Cash coming into Riverheads. Bryson Cash. He looks to be a solid kid that will add to an already stacked 113 weight.

That Cash kid has been around for awhile. Won a ton of awards. Has won VAWA states 5 or 6 times. Couple triple crowns. I’m thinking he’s AA at super 32 a time or 2 and won USA’s in FS/GR. I’m thinking he made finals in folkstyle at USA’s. Kid won at summer nationals couple days ago at 117. But was told he was looking at going 106 for this upcoming season. But looks to be getting some size on him so who knows if he’ll go 106 or 113. Has some notable wins over kids that are ranked pretty good in the state for HS now. Should turn some heads this year. Supposed to be the best of the 3 Cash kids. His older brothers made finals about every year won a state title each. But time will tell. As far as I know the most decorated incoming freshman I can think of.

Also 3 other incoming freshmen I can think of are Jameson Burns. I believe he’s a Benedictine kid. Had a heck of a start last year as an 8th grader in some varsity tournaments. Was nationally ranked in the prep rankings. Gonna say probably gonna go 120. Stud kid. Another is Ben Proper. I believe he’s going to Riverbend. Won southeast regionals this spring. VAWA runner up this past year at folkstyle. I believe he lost to Cash in the finals. I believe he’s going 106 this year. And Michael Santos. Heard he’s going to Chantilly. Won Northeast regionals. Kid has come on strong last couple years. Won VAWA’s this year. Probably be 106 or 113. Quality group coming into HS this year.

I agree with Bush and Buffman. Bush is legit. Great young kid. And Buffman has been solid here lately. Both great additions. I believe Buffman will be 106. Bush probably 120. But could possibly go 113.

I’m not sure if Elliott Byers is coming in this year or if he’s a rising 8th grader but he’s another solid kid. If I had to rank those kids just mentioned I’d have- 1. Burns 2. Cash 3. Bush 4. Santos 5. Proper 6. Buffman. 7. Byers Just my opinion.

You can include Elliott Crews in this years upcoming freshmen. If you look towards the 2A kids Leland Altizer is a tough kid that's competed well at VAWA over the years and the then group of rising 8th graders are very good as well you have Colt Jones, Reid Stiltner, Reza Masssjouni, Jackson Crowder.

3 rising freshmen who won 2023 triple crown: 1. Jameson Burns. He will attend St. Benedictine 2. Colton Jones (Sawyer's little brother) 3. Tharin Svetanant (only 2 years of wrestling but already beat 2x NC State champ Sumter Horton at super32 qualifier Eden)

I thought Weltzer was a rising 8th grader? Hayden Barder is solid. Elliot Crews is very tough. Gonna be 126 or 132 in a stacked 4A bracket. I believe he’s going to Jefferson Forrest. Kids always placed well at VAWA.

He’s going to be fun to watch next season for sure. He definitely stood out to me while going over the names I have.
